My Love
(I dedicate this poem to the love of my life who will soon become my life-partner)
We met as strangers in the train,
It was destiny that had brought us there,
Hardly we realized the significance of that journey,
Together we spent some 7 hours.
You were first the quietest of all,
I hardly did notice you there,
Your friends appeared smarter than you
Coz you remained silent and sober.
I thought for a moment
how boring were you!
so unlike a technical guy.
My mom spoke to you
A couple of times,
but you remained timid and shy.
Your friends got down
and we thought
the next 2 hours would be spent in silence.
But, as if you opened yourself,
You started reciting jokes insane.
We laughed and laughed
and wondered why
you remained so silent all the while before.
Then we realized
you were the one
who would prefer to shine in loneliness more.
Our destinations were same then,
So are they now.
We journeyed together
So are we now.
You emailed me and called me,
engaged me in long conversations.
We exchanged thoughts,
Our ideas clashed,
We realized how different were we
yet we started to come closer
there was building up a chemistry.
I tried hard to resist you
withdraw back in to my shell.
But love was already blooming in
before we could orally tell.
You spoke to me about your life
I felt you were an alien.
Your strange stories penetrated my soul
I found you mysterious.
I fell in love with you...
I knew not what to do.
Then, one fine day,
you opened your heart
and asked me to walk in to it.
I thought and thought,
broke my head over this thought
something that I badly wanted
was with what I fought.
You were not the boy
I had dreamt of,
Yet you were there
creating your own space.
I found you full of flaws
not the one I would give in to,
but I was in to a daze.
If this is what is defined as love
Then I was in love for sure.
It was not a materialization of the bookish thoughts
but it was spontaneous and pure.
You came in to my life
Like a fresh breeze of peace
You opened a whole new world to me
And filled it with wonder and ease.
I wanted to walk beside you
To talk and listen to you
And wanted to know your side of life
Like a kid, I followed you
Mesmerised I got drawn to you
Now I am going to be your wife.
This has been a sweet journey,
Over a period of 3 and a half years
With no chapters to regret.
Changed are we from what we were then
With dreams and hopes of what to come
To marry we are all set.
We met as strangers in the train,
